NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)

Is a model of inter- and intra personal communication. It consists of a collection of very useful psychological tools that help to gain awareness of the subjectivity of perceptions or experiences. Based on this it allows to consciously develop and model behaviors and thus become more effective in human interactions.

Schulz von Thun

Is a German communication Professor at the University of Hamburg that developed a number of very practical and strong human inter- and intra personal interaction models. The main focus of his models lies on self-awareness. To become conscious of our inner different roles and personalities (we are then able to initiate an inner dialogue). To understand our reactions we have on the behavior of others (we than have the chance to develop other options for actions).

His models are especially useful in the area of communication, decision making and conflict resolution.

TCI (Theme Centered Interaction)

Is a powerful model design by Ruth Cohn that serves to analyze, understand and improve human interactions on a personal, group or organizational level?

According to the model disturbances in interactions can occur in one or more of the 4 core factors of the TCI-Model:

  • The Individual; our self (I)
  • The Group; people we are relating with (WE)
  • The Task, the subject, the mission we are dealing with (IT)
  • The Environment we are in (GLOBE)

In her model Ruth Cohn points out the importance of the balance that should be maintained within these elements in order to make an interaction effective. The model is very useful to analyze human interactions, to become mindful of existing disturbances and to overcome these disturbances and develop healthier relations.

Transactional Analysis (T.A.)

TA is a psychological theory and model that is be used as an instrument to analysis human interactions.

“According to the International Transactional Analysis Association TA ‘is a theory of personality and a systematic psychotherapy for personal growth and personal change’.

As a theory of personality, TA describes how people are structured psychologically. It uses what is perhaps its best known model, the ego-state (Parent-Adult-Child) model to do this. This same model helps explain how people function and express their personality in their behavior.

It is a theory of communication that can be extended to the analysis of systems and organizations. (2010.11. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transactional_analysis)

U Theory

Is a theory developed by Otto Scharmer, professor at the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).

“Theory U offers both a new theoretical perspective and a practical social technology. As a theoretical perspective, Theory U suggests that the way in which we attend to a situation determines how a situation unfolds: I attend this way, therefore it emerges that way. As a practical social technology, Theory U offers a set of principles and practices for collectively creating the future that wants to emerge (following the movements of co-initiating, co-sensing, co-inspiring, co-creating, and co-evolving).”
